Internet Casino Sucker Bets — Part II

  • Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly contain one of these. You typically place a bet ($1 is the normal value) to attempt to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although big jackpots like these are particularly alluring, they are also particularly complicated to succeed. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this wager. Also, imagine this- you play 20 hands and place the side wager each time. That’s twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game bet instead of a sucker bet. Imagine what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds using that twenty dollars.
  • Single number bets in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only 1. This shifts the complete house advantage from 2% with a single zero wheel to a huge 5.26% in American. The individual number wager has only a 1 in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red wagers instead which have a much smaller casino edge.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you gamble on it, the casino edge can be a whopping twenty-five percent. No, that is not a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to select, it is not recommended to play Keno very much. A couple of times for enjoyment, perhaps. But do not waste all your cash on it or you will immediately discover yourself beaten.
